cheap and simple activity for a birthday party is to buy an artist's canvas from a discount store, along with some cheap paints and let each person do a little painting on the canvas, then write their name with a permanent marker next to their little painting. * for the boys - buy in a trailer load of sand - have the boys wear there "dirty play clothes" & bring along a Tonka type toy, hide treasures in the sand, then when found, let the boys use the trucks to dig and play, add water, build dams etc. When finished rake the sand over the lawn to topdress.
* for the girls, have a sleepover and get them to decorate plain bags for goodies, a great craft activity, then can also make their crowns, jewellery etc.
Pinyata Recipe
Blow up a balloon to the desired size, Rip newspaper into strips, Make a paste out of two cups of flour and one cup of water. Dip one side of the paper strips into the paste and place on the balloon until covered. Let dry. Do two more layers, letting each layer dry before applying the next. Cut a flap in the top and fill with lollies, confetti and party favours and close the flap. Decorate your balloon however you like - pig, pirate, bee, flower, fairy. Put two holes in the top and thread some thin rope through for hanging.
